Promoting Tourism Through a Social Networking Website
Innovation is the name of the game in today’s market. People / companies who innovate new things are most likely successful and fame is ushered on them. Go See Tell Network has launched a new website GoSeeOregon.com along with Travel Oregon. It is a social networking website where Oregon tourists share their experiences on the website and provide valuable tips.
The website is a combination of Amazon, Ebay and TripAdvisor. Users can write about the places they visited and rate them, add pictures or provide tips for other users. Here is a quote from a news piece:
“GoSeeOregon.com is more about the people who visit places than about the places that are visited by people. With support from Travel Oregon, the site imparts authenticity to the Oregon brand,” said Davidson. “It also allows us to build on our established track record as an innovator in the travel industry; we know of no other tourism destination that has attempted to engage travelers on this level,” he said.
Browsing through the website has sparked my interest to visit Oregon and I will have it written down in my future travel plans book. I recommend you do it too.

[...] a great idea of a social networking website but if the same model is extended to other tourists, it could help tourists find new friends and kill boredom at their destination [...]

I am involved in travel both for business and pleasure, always on the lookout for new things. For Oregon, I can recommend using Tripwiser http://www.tripwiser.com/#tripwiser=section%3DtripSearch%26url%3DsearchTripRes.do%3Fview%3Dmain%26s_advRel%3D2%26s_luxBud%3D2%26s_key%3Doregon%26s_famCou%3D0%26s_natCul%3D0
