World’s Most Livable Cities
Mercer Human Resource Consulting has published a list of World’s most livable cities. The cities are rated on 39 different criteria which include transportation, political stability, currency-exchange regulations, political and media censorship, school quality, housing, the environment, public safety and others. Mercer is known to give advice to multi national companies like Microsoft, Accenture, Dell etc.
The list’s top runners are mostly from Europe with Zurich, the Swiss capital ruling the roost. The top most American city in the list is Honolulu, Hawaii at number 27 which is rather surprising for a progressive nation like the US. Vancouver from Canada is at the third position proving the US that Canada is a better place to live in. The top most Indian city, New Delhi is at a paltry 148 and the city that I live in, Bangalore is at 153.
Analyzing and comparing the last year’s list with the current one, it is evident that the livability in cities don’t change rapidly which is good news for many businesses, MNCs and mainly residents.
