Yahoo! Travel Review
Yahoo! Travel is one of the newest entrant into the travel domain. But, it has a giant network that can easily overpower other travel businesses that are established for a longer period. Read Write Web has done a thorough review on this website based on different factors like content, personalization, context, community, commerce etc.
Using Yahoo! Travel, tourists can book flight tickets, hotels, cars and plan out their itinerary. The Travel Guides has a humongous list of 40,000 cities and 500,000 places with reviews, places to see etc; basically all the information that a traveler needs to know. A currency converter is available as well.
Yahoo lacks in the personalization department. It has integrated My Yahoo which helps them plan, check and track reservations, get alerts etc. But, it does not differentiate travelers based on the travel styles like camping, luxury, cultural, romantic etc.
Maybe things will change in the coming months; maybe they won’t. But for Yahoo to have the edge over others, they need to accomodate all the travelers’ needs. Understanding the customer is more important than displaying a plethora of items on its shelf.
