Yahoo! Travel is Personalized Now
Remember when I echoed Srmana Mitra’s views on non personalization of Yahoo! travel being one of the biggest drawbacks for a star travel website. It looks like the stakeholders in Yahoo! Travel read reviews and learn from them quickly. The website was heavy on content and low on personalization before but Yahoo has upped the anti by negating the negative points.
Yahoo launched a new personalized version of its travel planning website on Wednesday that merges online community, bargain hunting, and Internet mapping technology.
Yahoo Travel makes trip recommendations based on each person’s history of activity at the website and shares recommendations and detailed itineraries of users with similar interests.
This new feature started on 9th of May 2007.
A plug in has been developed by a third party vendor that enables users to book tickets and hotels from messenger in real time. A software that figures different intricate details like the terrain, ramps, streets, buildings etc which will be integrated with Yahoo maps is in the works.
Yahoo! Travel is heading towards monopolyzing online travel with the addition of addition of features that mean the most for travelers. I look forward to use it more to be able to review it comprehensively.
