Cellphones for Fishermen
I have repeatedly talked about cellphones transforming into different devices that serve a better purpose than a phone. While the cellphone acts as a GPS gadget, it can also morph itself into a city guide giving information on different places and gas stations.
Asians have a sense of innovation that Westerners usually don’t. In 2004, the South Korean SK Telecom came out with mosquito repellants fitted onto phones. Now we have fish finding service from SK Telecom for fishermen fitted on a cellphone. These phones are fitted with a transmitter that get signals from satellites which provide crucial information such as the fish population in a certain area, water temperature, depth and weather updates.
