People tend to think that all men are geeks and hence the proposal of travel gifts would be on the lines of specific gadgets that would enthrall men’s senses. If somebody was to ask me regarding the desired travel gifts preferred, I would list out in this fashion:

1. A cellphone with GPS capability along with directions
2. A trackstick to record my movements
3. A waterproof MP3 player
4. Solar Powered Headphones and so on

This list doesn’t seem to end but if somebody was to gift me something, I would want a hover bed before anything else.

About.com has featured an article - Top 7 Travel Gifts for Men, which lists out the different gifts that men would prefer. Remember, all men are not geeks but all geeks are men :). I am not sure how the writer came up with the list, whether a survey was conducted or maybe it’s just her intuition putting on a man’s suit. Some gifts listed in the article are Wi-Fi locator to locate Wi-Fi signals for internet, a TSA luggage lock which can be opened by a special key possessed by the TSA, and the rest of the gift ideas are nothing but useless items that no man would like to be presented with. Maybe the writer should have done some research before publishing the article.
