10 Beach Photography Tips

Have you tried taking photographs at beaches while women are sun bathing or in a posture that would seem most inappropriate? Well, we men usually try to capture those images but here are some tips that reach beyond the temptation but into a region which savors the water hitting the land.

Digital Phtography School has listed 10 tips for all those who wish to take pictures with their digital cameras at beaches. Beaches present digital camera owners with a number of wonderful opportunities as they are places of natural beauty, color and interesting light. However they also present a variety of challenges including camera damage, privacy issues and making large open spaces interesting.

Here’s an excerpt:

- Look for points of interests or focal points like patterns on sand, waves crashing rocks and so on. Taking pictures of water could be boring at best
- A general photography tip: Take pictures early in the morning or late in the evening while the sun isn’t at his brightest
- Head to seas especially when the weather is not perfect; try to take shots of stormy weather and dramatic clouds
- Use flash while photographing portraits as you may see shadows caused by hats and other coverings
- Black and White photos always give a classic look

For a successful, effective and a pleasing vacation, it is extremely important to have the best resources available to us. We might have some great search engines like Google which can help us find some helpful resources but it is not exhaustive by any means. We might miss out on some killer deals as we couldn’t locate the site or the website didn’t advertise enough to grab our attention. Well, we can’t really comment on a company’s advertising policy.

I have a habit of saving some of the best resources that I come across by blogging on it. But, Brooke Dowd has compiled the best 50 travel websites that exists as of today. Once again, the list may not be exhaustive but I am confident that it covers most of the top travel websites in the present day.

The compilation lists social networking sites which provide crucial opinions and advice that matters the most, booking websites for the best rates, airline related websites, travel videos and other topics. I am impressed with this compilation and it will surely go on top of my favorites list.

There is no land of the unknowns any more. The internet boasts of having information on every single city around the World, especially the popular countries. Malaysia Travel Guide is a great resource which has been designed and developed by PKTan, a Malaysian entrepreneur.

For your trip to Malaysia, it has over 1000 pages of information on what to see and do in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur accommodations, transport, mobile phones, even getting married in Malaysia, and answers all your travel questions.

Malaysia Travel Guide seems to be comprehensive with suggestions for travelers regarding necessities in Malaysia and a detailed guide of all the major cities.

Flickr Uploader for Geeks

Flickr is one of the most popular photo sharing website. Many travelers around the globe use flickr to store all their photos. Many would even dump it on flickr on a daily basis. All you need is a computer connected to the internet. There are several tools that lets you upload photos onto the flickr website. All the tools lets you select a bunch of files that needs to be uploaded and it does it’s job to perfection. But, geeks would prefer something that involves automation; a tool that detects new photos dumped in a folder and uploading it automatically to flickr.

Life Hacker has written about a flickr tool, uploadr.py, that automates the process of detecting new photos and uploading them. But this tool may be deemed mostly for geeks as it involves complicated process of configuration. It is written using a computer language Python which is platform independent. This tool was written by Cameron Mallory and the entire directions for usage is available on Life Hacker.

If you are a novice to computers in general, I would advice against using this tool. Uploadr.py saves time but the functionality remains the same.

Boo.com Starts Again

The concept of Boo.com isn’t unique or mind-blowing but it’s a very well organized website for travelers which can gather momentum with inputs from travelers. Built on the state-of-the-art web design architecture with Web 2.0 and soothing graphics, Boo provides a one-stop place on the internet for travelers to find out more about any place around the globe. It’s a guide which is driven by travelers pitching their inputs rather than one person doing all the writing and commenting. It mainly takes care of booking hotel rooms and plane tickets.

The website is owned and operated by Web Reservations International (WRI) and the plan is to combine search engine capabilities, pricing, reviews and social networking with an innovative interface.

Boo.com used to be a fashion and sportswear website which is a totally different genre from the current one. The website had stopped services in November of 2000 only to start with a new face in 2007.
